Chemetall, a chemicals manufacturer based in the US, has cut the ribbon on a new manufacturing plant in Blackman Township, Michigan built by O’Harrow Construction Company.  O’Harrow engaged many local companies to work on this project which encompasses an area of 200,000 square feet. O’Harrow broke ground for construction in May 2011 and came online with the project  in October 2012. The latest project by O’Harrow Construction, Jim Knox Chrysler has opened in Hillsdale, Michigan. This project involved the design & construction of a renovation to an existing auto dealership building that consisted of partial demolition and reconstruction of the front of the building, remodeling of existing office areas, and new concrete and hot mix asphalt parking areas. This project involved design and construction of an upgrade for an early 20th century manufacturing facility for modern uses. The existing building consisted of “saw tooth” roof trusses and a riveted steel superstructure skeleton. Modifications to the building included:   Removing portions of a corridor connecting two large building areas and replacing the corridor with a prefabricated metal building. America 1 Federal Credit Union Vandercook Lake, Michigan The existing building at this location was originally designed and constructed by O’Harrow Construction in the mid 1990’s. The current project consists of the design and construction of a 1,320 square foot addition that includes office space, restrooms, and renovations to the front entrance of the existing building. Facilities for Swan Steel were recently upgraded. The upgrades included a building enclosure of an area adjacent to the existing steel shop building (adding 9600 square feet additional space) and adding a new 10 ton high speed overhead crane. The new 10 ton crane replaced a 3 ton unit and will increase overall efficiency of Swan Steel’s operations. In house structural engineering was performed to assure the existing structure could accept the new heavier crane loads.

Alro Steel’s existing 25,000 square foot steel distribution/processing/warehouse facility is currently being expanded with a 49,000 square foot “wrap-around” addition. The “wrap-around” addition will create a drive through bay with overhead crane access. The new addition was configured to minimize snow drift loading on the existing building. Customized foundations for the addition incorporate the existing building foundations to resist the heavy snow loads prevalent in western New York.
